In 2020 the Swatch group was a victim of cyberattack. During the attack they were forced to shut down technology systems to prevent the spread of the attack and assess which parts of their operations may have been affected.

The University of Neuchâtel website was cyberattacked after which a warning mail was sent to Swiss companies and authorities to urge them to take steps to protect them from the high risks of digital attacks.

A local SME business server was cyberattacked and blackmail was demanded by the attackers in bitcoin before they would return the server function back to normal. The business had insurance to cover the cost of the incident.

Any company or person that has not considered digital protection and what needs to be done to protect their digital presence are wide open to cyber attackers.

Speakers

Frederic Schenk, SGS Vice President for Manufacturing and Processing Industries, will talk about cyber safety in production environments - what it is and what it means for all of us.
Christophe Gerber is the managing director of ELCASecurity. The company is active in the prevention, protection, defence, and remediation of numerical platforms. Mr Gerber is also a member of the cybersecurity commission of DigitalSwitzerland, the center for Digital Trust and the Trust Valley.
