Traditional performance measurement was developed in a stable business environment. The Dupont Model developed 100 years ago focuses on short term profit maximization. It is still relevant for assessing the financial performance of the organisation.

Today’s business environment is more dynamic and involves multiple stakeholders. It requires new ways of looking at performance. Traditional measures of financial performance need to be supplemented by other non-financial measures.

More than 80% of the value of organisations is not reflected in their financial statements. This is due to the growth in importance of intangible assets that are mostly excluded from financial statements. We need to understand how intangible assets are different to tangible assets.

The Value Creation Masterclass is in three parts:

  • Short term profit maximization
  • Long term value creation
  • Performance measurement
